This event created awareness around brain injury survivors and caregivers, and also raised funds to assist with support groups, recreation events, and the annual Camp Can Do.

In 2006, Jim Ledgewood was minding his own business at a sports bar in Glendale when he was randomly shot in the head by a gunman.
The hollow point bullet exploded, severing a facial nerve and destroying his inner eardrum. Then the bullet traveled to the back of his head, nicking his carotid artery, causing bleeding around his brain. His frontal and temporal lobes also were damaged.
